At the helm

The life of a charter captain sounds idyllic, but itÃÛ·èÖ±²¥ not all beer and skittles.

Being a fishing guide must be tough. Oh sure, it sounds great — going fishing for a living — but, especially here in Florida, it can’t be anything close to an easy job.

If you’ve never hired a guide to go fishing, you really should. Perhaps you think of a guide as part marine biologist, a pipe-smoking intellectual spouting the Latin names of every fish, shrimp, leaf or gob of algae in the water. Or you may feel that a guide is just charging you good money to do something you can do nearly as well yourself.
